Supply restored to Gozitan localities affected by cable fault
Enemalta working on cable faults developed Monday and Tuesday
At 18:48 on Monday 8th July, an 11kV fault affected the localities of Victoria, Kercem, San Lawrenz, Gharb, Marsalforn and Xaghra. The faulty section was isolated and the majority of the substations were reenergized at 19:33, and supply was fully restored at 21:18.
This morning, at around 9:50 another fault occurred which tripped 2 feeders affecting a number of substations which also include consumers affected by the power cut which happened yesterday, also including the localities of Ghajnsielem, Fontana, Xewkija, Sannat, Munxar and Ghasri.
Enemalta employees are currently onsite trying to locate the fault and are in the process of restoring supply to some of the affected consumers through alternative sources. As of 12:40 more than half of the substations have been reenergized and works are ongoing to restore supply to the rest of the substations.
Consumers who have already been given supply might later on suffer a short power cut during switching operations when normal network operations are restored.
