The Armed Forces of Malta are monitoring a boatload of migrants crossing the Mediterranean, but have not yet decided whether the boat will be towed into Maltese waters.
The AFM has confirmed that a woman, of unspecified nationality, has been airlifted to Malta. The AFM has not released an estimate of the quantity of migrants, their nationalities or the coordinates of the boat.
An army spokesperson would also not confirm whether the Italian coastguard was involved in the rescue mission, or whether a stand-off between the two countries was underway over who should take responsibility for the migrants at sea.
In another development, a second boatload of 68 migrants is expected to be brought to Malta. The boat is carrying a pregnant woman, and another woman who gave birth on board. A ministry spokesperson has confirmed the mother needs urgent medical attention.

How many is enough? Perhaps when the population will reach 2 million with 1.5 million being from the African countries and half a million be Maltese citizens. At the rate that thousands are coming in every year and only a few tens are going out (taken by other countries) in a decade or so we will be double in population. The EU can stuff the money up its back side as that is not the help we want from them. We simply do not have the space for us alone, moreover for these unwanted guests.

We should do a bouy on the perimeter of our sea with arrows showing the other European countries and let the Illegal emingrants decide where they want to go. Against Malta's name we shoud also insert "FULL UP" The biggest Arrow should be Brussles where Kindest seems to be on the LIPS. We should give them food, water and fuel to continue with their Journey.

Malta has been dishing out subsidiary protection status much too generously. This has been acting as a pull factor.

Unless this war is won, one can guarantee that in less than one generation the Maltese will be extinct as a culture and the Somalis will be in (each Faduma will produce at least 9 children).

Wow more boat people!!!!!!! Are we supposed to take them all on our island.....how cheeky of them.....Now what s going to happen since neither repatriation/pushback was not accepted.... Back to square one!!!!

We thought we would opt for Europe to acquire all that which Europe stands for. The standards of Europe are not for us, not for the time being. We are in Europe but without European standards, that is second class European. MEDITATE GENTE MEDITATE .
