Muscat meets Italian PM on irregular immigration
Enrico Letta and Joseph Muscat to address international press after the bilateral talks.
Irregular immigration is set to be the main subject of bilateral talks between Joseph Muscat and Italy's Prime Minister, Enrico Letta, when they meet this afternoon in Rome.
The interconnector between both countries - together with other security and energy issues - should also feature during the talks.
The meeting is scheduled to take place in Palazzo Chigi at 1pm; Both Prime Ministers will address the press afterwards.
Speaking in Parliament last Thursday, Muscat referred to Pope Francis' comments over the 'globalisation of indifference' and said the bilateral talks with Italy would focus on how Malta and Italy could co-operate in facing this issue.
This is the fourth state-visit for Malta's Prime Minister, after visiting France, Libya and the Vatican. Accompanying the Prime Minister is deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech.
