Unjustified direct orders approved days before inauguration of family park
Report on Marsascala family park set to reveal that direct orders were approved days before the 9 March election despite being unjustified, sources say.
According to reliable sources, a Management Efficiency Unit (MEU) report which has been finalised on the planning and operational set up of the Marsascala Family Park, which was temporarily closed last week, is expected to ruffle more than a few feathers.
A few weeks following the 9 March election, the MEU had been instructed by environment minister Leo Brincat to compile a technical report on the development of the €7 million Family Park in Marsascala, which is blighted by administrative and infrastructural problems.
Apart from reported various cost over runs, some of which seem to be without much justification, unjustified direct orders reportedly were judged to be excessive by the MEU.
Seemingly the report shows that a large number of direct orders were approved by the ministry for resources and rural affairs, a few weeks before the park was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi on 24 February, barely two weeks before the election.
