AD calls on authorities to widen investigations on oil procurement
Greens call on police and parliament to widen investigations on oil procurement mismanagement to pre-2008.
Alternattiva Demokratika called on Parliament and the police to investigate the role played by holders of political office in the purchase of Enemalta's oil requirements.
Following Prime Minister Joseph Muscat's statement that many had believed irregularities at Enemalta were carried out even before 2008, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Arnold Cassola, said: "The police investigation already started on alleged post-2008 misdemeanours should be widened to include even the pre-2008 period. Moreover, on the resumption of parliament after the summer recess, the Public Accounts Committee should act on the Audit Office report."
He added that the authorities should investigate the role played by holders of political office in the purchase of Enemalta's oil requirements "not only in respect of Tonio Fenech and Austin Gatt but also in respect of other allegations which have been presented a long time ago at the Law Courts and in respect of which no decision seems to be in sight."
