Ghar Lapsi cliffs covered in stainless steel nets

900-metre squared stainless steel net covers Ghar Lapsi cliffs protecting bathers from falling rocks.

A 900-metre squared stainless steel net has been installed at Ghar Lapsi, protecting bathers from falling rocks.

The infrastructural work took two months to complete.

Infrastructure minister Joe Mizzi said a danger of falling rocks existed in a substantial part of the coastline near Ghar Lapsi, which is highly frequented by bathers.

A geologist's report had been concluded in December 2011 but works only started last May.

An Italian contractor, who is also involved in similar works at the Citadella, carried out the works.

The net was secured with 2-metre long stainless steel bolts.
