The MP who replaced Lawrence Gonzi on his debut
Former financial controller refuses allegations that he was one of those responsible for the current PN’s financial situation.
Antoine Borg, who got elected to Parliament this week in a casual election, says it was a surprise to him that he got elected on his first attempt, seeing there were four former MPs on the list.
The former PN financial controller says obtaining the seat left by Lawence Gonzi meant a greater responsibility.
“I had the opportunity to follow closely Lawrence Gonzi. I saw in him a father figure, ready to shoulder his responsibilities and convinced to pursue his objectives. He was always committed to practice what he preaches,” Borg says.
He also said that while Gonzi was a very loyal leader, “this loyalty was not reciprocal from some around him.”
Borg refuses allegations that he was one of those responsible for the current PN’s financial situation.
“I always did my very best, but every circumstance is the result of a number of other circumstances. I cannot reveal more since it is a commercial sensitive issue,” the MP says.
