Four men detained by police following two separate drug hauls in Hamrun
Four men are being detained by the police after two separate drug hauls in Hamrun yielded an unspecified amount of drugs in the past few days. Although the first case took place three days ago, the police only informed the media about the discovery late this afternoon.
The first discovery was made next to St Paul Square on Sunday. In this case, the police caught two men red-handed as heroin was passing from one hand to another.
The two detained men, who were well-acquainted with the police, were a 40-year-old man from Vallettaand 36-year-old man from Rabat, Malta.
The second discovery was made late yesterday morning in Atocia Roadin the same locality.
The police raid took place after receiving a tip-off that drug trafficking was underway in an apartment in that street. In fact, following police surveillance on site, the suspicions were confirmed.
In fact, during the police raid, a 27-year old man was caught red-handed while trafficking heron in his own residence. The police also found an unspecified amount of heroin on the man’s body.
In connection with this second drug haul, the police have also detained a 25-year-old Hamrun man.
The police said they were still investigating the two cases.
