Employers’ association welcome SMEs tendering conditions revision
Employers urged to participate in tenders issued by the government.
The Malta Employers' Association has welcomed the revision of tendering conditions established by the government aimed at encouraging and making it easier for small and medium enterprises to partake in government tenders.
"This is a step in the right direction from the government's side to help small business," the MEA said, adding that the association had itself called on political parties to reduce red tape.
Thanks to the new revisions, among others, SMEs will no longer be requested to present a bid-bond when submitting an offer for Government tenders below €120,000 and no performance guarantee will be needed for those tenders whose value does not exceed €10,000.
"These initiatives should be only the beginning of a more elaborated process to eliminate all obstacles against SMEs participation in government tenders and for the creation of a fair playing field," the MEA said.
It urged all employers to take up these opportunities and participate in call for tenders.
