APS sponsors 2013 LifeCycle Challenge
APS Funds Sicav p.l.c. is sponsoring one of the cyclists participating in the 2013 LifeCycle Challenge
For the second consecutive year APS Funds Sicav p.l.c. is sponsoring one of the cyclists participating in the 2013 LifeCycle Challenge, because this initiative raises public awareness on daily difficulties experienced by members of the community, and in addition it contributes to a better quality of life, in a tangible way.
Founded in 1999, Lifecycle Challenge aims to generate funds for medical equipment at the Renal Unit, and it strives for improved quality of life of patients suffering from the debilitating illness by allowing them access to the highest standards of healthcare.
This year's 15th edition of the Lifecycle Challenge will involve a gruelling 2000-kilometre journey from Minsk in Belarus to St. Petersburg in Russia, passing through the Baltic States. Cyclists with different levels of ability and other members of the support team, including medical doctors, have signed on to provide logistical support and to help with common ailments participants are likely to experience during the testing 10-day challenge.
This year's goal is to set up a specialised immunological blood testing unit for pre-transplant blood checking at Mater Dei Hospital. Fund manager Sandro Baluci said community-oriented initiatives deserved to be encouraged, along the lines of other community-orientated support programmes offered by APS Bank in various fields, including sports, heritage and culture.
