Online users say they travel more than once over 12 months
Maltatoday.com.mt poll shows Maltese travelling more than once abroad in 12 months.
That Maltese have taken to travelling more is confirmed by official statistics issued by the Malta National Statistics Office. Outbound tourism between January and May 2013 saw an 11% increase when compared to the previous year.
But a non-scientific poll carried by maltatoday.com.mt has also pointed towards a new trend where Maltese chose to travel at least twice during the past 12 months.
During this week's online poll, respondents were asked whether they have been away on holiday over the past 12 months.
The replies were almost divided in half between those who did seek a break away from the Maltese shores and those who stayed in Malta.
Of the 4,006 respondents, 1,153 (29%) responded that they had been on a holiday abroad twice in the past 12 months.
1,095 respondents, marking 27% of the total participants, said they went away just once during the same period.
On the other hand, 1,758 respondents - 44% - said they have not been abroad during the past year.
