UHM accuse Arriva of denying workers’ right to join union
Arriva management impeding its workers from joining UHM, the union says.
Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) today said that Arriva's management was denying its employees the right to join the union of their choice.
Noting that a "substantial" number of workers at the transport company had joined its ranks in the last few months, UHM said the company was hindering its workers from joining the union. "Why is Arriva's management blocking workers from joining UHM?"
Pointing out that the company's management are persuading its workers from joining UHM, the union's transport section dubbed the company's actions as "unacceptable" and said that it did not expect this in a democratic country which upholds the workers' right to join the union of their own choice.
"Therefore, if this behaviour, which is in breach of the workers' rights, continues the union will recur to all possible means allowed by law to safeguard its members' interests."
The union went on to thank the Arriva workers for their trust and pledged that their loyalty will be returned in quality services.
