English-langauge schools supporting raising drinking age
FELTOM supporting proposalk by Commissioner for Children to raise drinking age to 18
The Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations in Malta (FELTOM) has agreed to the proposal put forward by the Children's Commissioner to increase drinking age threshold to 18 years.
"FELTOM has long argued that increasing the safety of minors should always be a priority. Increasing the drinking age threshold to 18 years is therefore a step in the right direction," the federation said, saying that it had already taken a number of initiatives to limit the accessibility of minors studying in English in Malta to alcohol at events.
FELTOM organises weekly non-alcoholic events at venues away from Paceville.
