Enemalta has received several reports of faults in different localities which are currently being exposed to the strong winds and thunderstorms.

The unusual weather conditions hitting the Maltese islands have affected parts of both the high voltage and low voltage networks especially where overhead lines are involved.

Localities affected include Siġġiewi, Rabat, Dingli, Żebbuġ, St Paul's Bay, Xemxija, Mistra and Selmun.

Such repair works pose a challenge to Enemalta employees and electricity supply can only be restored once it is safe for employees to reach overhead lines without any danger. "Once the weather has cleared, Enemalta will immediately dispatch its employees to continue repairs and to restore electricity in the shortest time possible," a spokesperson said.

In the meantime, motorists have been advised to avoid the Kirkop tunnels beneath the Malta International Airport due to traffic congestion.

What a load of bull from Enemalta, it's not as if storms have hit the Island for the first time. This all boils down to lack of maintenance and repairs as things like this are unacceptable. It all shows that this company like many others is managed by crisis.
