Over 70,000 make Santa Marija crossing

A record number of persons crossed over to Gozo during the traditional summer break in the Santa Marija week.

Last week, 70,196 people crossed to Gozo, an increase of 4,652 over last year, the government said.

The Gozo Channel ferries carried 7,725 vehicles in 242 voyages, an increase of 1,243 cars over the same period last year.

The ministry for Gozo welcomed the figures and said that these confirmed the island's potential. It added that the number of tourist could only increase if all services provided are of the highest quality.
