GWU is recognised union at Arriva, says public transport service provider

Arriva rebuts UHM accusations over workers impeded from joining the workers’ union.

Public transporter service provider Arriva has denied allegations that it was hindering employees from joining the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM).

On Monday, the union said that Arriva's management was denying its employees the right to join the union of their choice.

Refuting the allegations, Arriva said it gave its employees "full freedom" to become members of unions of their choice.

"The General Workers' Union (GWU) represents the majority of employees at Arriva and is the recognised union," the company said in a statement.

"Arriva's management has consistently and continuously collaborated with unions and their representatives, and has every intention of continuing to do so."
