Labour MEP says political discrimination to her husband was because of her political beliefs
After serving as Magistrate for 26 years, Antonio Mizzi was finally appointed Judge by the Labour Government.
In an interview with sister newspaper ‘Illum’, MEP Marlene Mizzi had harsh words against previous PN administrations claiming her husband, Judge Antonio Mizzi, was discriminated for long and ignored when it comes to promotions.
After serving as Magistrate for 26 years, Mizzi was finally appointed Judge by the Labour Government.
“He was ignored several times when new judges were appointed, but this was not enough. He was also overlooked when Senior Magistrates were appointed, a post that only depends on the years of experience,” Marlene Mizzi says.
She also mentions that former President Emeritus Guido De Marco had once said to Mizzi, “You have been maltreated for long, Tonio!”
Marlene Mizzi also hints that her husband was persecuted for presiding over a sports entity after her resignation from Sea Malta. “The persecution started in August 2005, when he was already President of MBA for 10 years. Just two months prior to this, I resigned from chairperson of Sea Malta. Is it just a coincidence?”
The Labour MP thanked Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and his cabinet on addressing this “obscene” injustice as soon as they could.
