Haulage driver charged with heroin importation

 

A 42 year-old international haulage driver was this morning remanded in custody after he was charged with conspiring to traffic, import and possess almost a kilogramme of heroin.

Chris Borg of Gzira, was under investigation following a sting on his truck last month by the police Drugs Squad soon after he drove off a ship that arrived from Italy.

Another man, co-driver Charles Seychell had been previously arraigned over the same charges and is currently being held at Corradino prisons. Seychell too registered a not guilty plea.

Police said that the drug was split into two packets by the co-accused, onewas found inside the cabins air condition unit, and the other inside the door panel.

Further police investigations connected to the case are reportedly still underway
