Hunting lobby complains about 'provocative tactics' from CABS
FKNK says leaflets distributed by CABS feature “deceitful and false information” about local hunting.
The hunting lobby (FKNK) has complained with the authorities about distribution of leaflets featuring “deceitful and false information” about hunting in Malta, by German-based organisation CABS (Committee Against Bird Slaughter).
According FKNK, the incorrect information includes which species may be hunted during this hunting season, the number of immediate consecutive shots from the same weapon, and about hunting from coastline.
“As a result, CABS members are inciting locals and tourists to register false reports to the police. These provocative tactics have now exceeded the limits of tolerance and we call on the Commissioner of Police to take the appropriate action in defence of law-abiding hunters, trappers and the general public,” FKNK CEO Lino Farrugia said.
FKNK also accused CABS of “daily roaming the countryside with total disregard of private property rights”.
The hunting open season started on 1st September and ends on 31st January 2014.
