Alleged prostitution not investigated after report shortcomings

A Bulgarian woman has alleged her daughter was lured into prostitution but when she reported the case to the police she was not taken seriously.

The mother of the 18-year-old girl told Sunday newspaper Illum she felt she was being discriminated against because of her nationality.

The woman claimed that when she was recounting her story to the police, a number of incorrect comments were included in the report by the receiving officer, while other details were allegedly completely left out.

The shortcomings in the report led to the police having no case against the man who was using the young woman for prostitution, she told Illum.
