Muscat leaves for UN assembly in New York

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat leading Maltese delegation to the 2013 United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will be leading a Maltese delegation to the 2013 United Nations General Assembly in New York. Muscat himself is expected to address the 68th session on Thursday.

The Maltese delegation, which includes foreign affairs minister George Vella and Labour MP Chris Agius, left this afternoon.

During their week in New York, both the Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs are expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings with countries from Asia, Africa and Middle East.

A meeting is also scheduled with the United Nation's secretary general Ban Ki-Moon.

The Maltese delegation will also travel to Toronto, Canada,

His wife Michelle and their twin daughters are accompanying the Prime Minister.
