Malta holds bilateral meeting with Algeria in New York

The Maltese delegation in New York attending the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly held bilateral meetings with the Algerian minister for foreign affairs Ramtane Lamamra.

According to a government statement, both sides agreed on the positive relations that exist between Malta and Algeria.

"The Prime Minister expressed the government's will to seeing this relationship strengthen while the Algerian Minister said his country will consider the possibility of setting up a joint commission," the government said.

The bilateral meetings also focused on tourism and energy. Malta and Algeria expressed satisfaction over increased Air Malta flight to and fro Algeria, increasing the connectivity between the two.

The Prime Minister also informed Lamamra of the strategic agreements secured with Libya and China, adding that even Algeria could be an important asset for investment in Malta.
