Middle East peace process talks between Malta and Palestine
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat meets Palestine’s Mahmoud Abbas in New York.
Talks on the Middle East peace process were high on the agenda of a bilateral meeting held between Malta and Palestine in New York.
The Maltese delegation met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told Abbas that Malta supported Palestine's cause with conviction.
Muscat will be visiting Israel and Palestine in the coming weeks.
According to a government statement, Abbas said his country appreciated the efforts that Malta did for Palestine through the United Nations and hailed Malta "as an old friend".
In 1975, Malta became the United Nations rapporteur on the rights of Palestinian people.
