Tradesman awared Mount Carmel worker of the year

The seventh edition of the Mount Carmel Worker of the Year award was held yesterday night during a specially held ceremony at Mount Carmel Hospital.

Angelo Mizzi has been awarded the Worker of the Year 2010, while the Psychiatric Outpatients’ at Mater Dei Hospital was awarded the Team of the Year 2010.

The awards were presented by Mount Carmel Chief Executive Officer Edward Borg in the presence of Health Minister Joe Cassar.

Mizzi occupies the post of Senior Tradesman and has been described as an exemplary person and very flexible in his work. Mizzi, who currently works at the Social Centre and at the Psychiatric Unit at Mater Dei Hospital, also uses his artistic talents to assist those around him.

His colleagues have also commented that he often manages to discover hidden talents in those patients with whom he works with them to find a manner how these are used for the benefit of the Hospital and its mission.

The Psychiatric Outpatients team at Mater Dei Hospital every day meets hundreds of people coming from each aspect of society.  They have been described as being very efficient in the service that they offer to clients while doing this in a professional and cheerful manner.

This despite the fact that the team members work in circumstances that sometimes are difficult because of the nature of the problems that clients often face.
