Illum newspaper: Martin Sapiano chooses competiton winner

Following sister newspaper Illum’s coverage of the reason behind Martin Sapiano’s sacking from XFM radio, a video has now been uploaded naming the winner of the corresponding Illum competition.

Around three weeks ago, many Facebookers flooded their walls with questions as to why Martin Sapiano’s radio programme came to an abrupt halt.

Sister newspaper Illum agreed with Martin to get Illum readers to send in some crazy suggestions of what they would imagine they want to see Martin Sapiano doing if he goes back on air. The one which would make Martin laugh the most, won a dinner for two at Gente di Mare restaurant at Marsaxlokk.

Sapiano explained why he had been stopped by XFM radio. “One Friday afternoon I was asked to go in at one of the directors’ offices where, there and then they told me that my show would be stopped… forever,” Martin said. Questioned why, Martin said that XFM had a new, younger vision “and I was not part of it.”

Asked if we would listen to Sapiano’s voice on the radio in October, he said “I have had talks with One Radio,” but he did not explain further if it was something for sure. “It will be good …”

Martin Sapiano is well known for being a bit of a cheeky nutter and this idea attracted dozens of suggestions. Illum chose four suggestions at random. The suggestions ranged from Martin dipping himself in jam and honey and letting a piglet lick him from head to toe, to Martin shaking his bare butt in the middle of St. George’s Square.

This competition’s winner is Hildbrand Bianco from Fgura. He suggested that Martin should undress from head to toe, except for his boxer shorts, cover himself with jam and honey and then set a hungry piglet to lick him up clean until the “poor piglet” is satisfied. Poor piglet or poor Sapiano?!
