Former chairman Alan Camilleri spent €165,853 on 31 trips abroad in four years - PQ
More than €18 million was spent by the Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks during the period of January 2010 to May 2012 on direct orders and the construction of Malta Enterprise's main office, a parliamentary question revealed yesterday.
Around €13 million was spent on direct orders whilst close to €5 million - €44,000 of which still has to be paid - was spent on the Malta Enterprise headquarters, built on the grounds of the former St Luke's Hospital.
Former chairman Alan Camilleri spent a total of €165,853 on 31 trips overseas over the four-year period between July 2008 and May 2012. His salary was reportedly that of €70,000 with benefits.
The figures were released during yesterday's parliamentary session after the issue was brought forward by Labour MP Justyne Caruana.
The Malta Enterprise has been in the news of late due to its controversial appointment of energy minister Konrad Mizzi's wife, Sai Mizzi Liang, as an investment promotion envoy to Asia on behalf of Malta Enterprise.
