Civil Service head says career was hindered due to his political beliefs
Interviewed by Illum, Mario Cutajar says that during the years accountability in the public service deteriorated.
The Principal Permanent Secretary and head of Civil Service Mario Cutajar, believes that his appointment was neither politically motivated, nor should it be considered controversial, because he was “overlooked in the past due to his political beliefs.”
Cutajar, who had filed a court case claiming political discrimination under past PN governments, said he was “expecting to advance in his career under a new government, but did not have the right to expect the call from the Prime Minister.”
Interviewed by Illum, Cutajar says that during the years accountability in the public service deteriorated, and that when he entered office he faced problems that remained pending for a long time.
During the interview, he also speaks about political transfers, his past as GWU deputy secretary general and ongoing works to reduce red tape.
