72 planned emergency drills on board the Gozo Channel since May

The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo, yesterday evening, produced a document in parliament which showed that there have been a total of 72 emergency and fire drills carried out by the Gozo Channel staff since May of this year.

The majority of the drills centered on evacuation procedures in case of a fire on board, whilst other drills included fire safety talks, showings of safety DVDs on the subject, and helicopter operations.

The reasons for the drills were various, including emergency maneuvering, personnel accidents, power failure and oils spills.
