PN accuses PBS of imbalanced reporting, asks for remedy
Nationalist Party complains over a decision by Public Broadcasting Services to ignore two interviews with the party leaders on Sunday.
The Nationalist Party today filed a complaint with the Public Broadcasting Services over its failure to report two interviews with the party leader and secretary-general, which were ironically carried out by a PBS journalist.
In its letter to PBS, the Opposition asked why the national broadcaster did not report the interviews with PN leader Simon Busuttil and secretary-general Chris Said in its flagship 8pm news bulletin.
Pointing out, that both interviews centred around current affairs such as the civil unions bill, the Budget and migration, the Opposition said the decision to ignore the interviews was "even more deplorable" since the interviews were carried out by a PBS journalist who was also accompanied by a cameraperson.
Pinning the blame on the PBS newsroom, the PN said that these facts show that the decision was taken "consciously" and once again exposed the imbalance in PBS reporting.
The PN called for an immediate remedy.
