‘No contact’ with Chinese company for public transport takeover
Nationalist MP asks whether government has been in contact with unnamed Chinese company over a possible public transport takeover.
There has been "no contact" between the government and a Chinese company over the possible takeover of the public transport service, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said today.
Mizzi was replying to a question raised by Nationalist MP Toni Bezzina in parliament.
Bezzina asked the minister to declare whether, over the past weeks, the ministry, Transport Malta or the government were in contact with a Chinese company to take over the public transport service from Arriva.
It is unclear to which Chinese company Bezzina was referring to.
While denying such an occurrence, Mizzi went on to suggest that Bezzina might have been in contact with a Chinese company or other foreign companies.
"However, I don't know whether [Bezzina] contacted Chinese companies or other foreign companies," the minister said in his reply.
