Government’s consultant on Gozo Channel resigns

Joseph Grech tenders resignation ‘due to serious family health issues’.

Government's consultant on Gozo Channel Joseph Grech has submitted his resignation due to personal reasons.

MaltaToday has learnt that Grech, Gozo Channel's former chairman, has cited "serious family health problems".

Grech, who was asked to resign from Gozo Channel in 2011, was given "a second chance" by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and appointed him as a government consultant.

His resignation in 2011 came after demanding that a ferry return to Mgarr to pick him up when he arrived late for the boat. He later applied for the post of chief executive of the company.

In comments to the press, Muscat had defended Grech's appointment insisting that under his chairmanship, the Gozo channel had been moving in the right direction.
