PN expresses solidarity with victims of domestic violence

Nationalist Party expresses solidarity with women who suffer violent abuse, vows to renew its policies.

In a statement marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Nationalist Party reiterated its commitment against all forms of violence on women, including physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse.

"Violence against women, including domestic abuse should never be tolerated. The country's institutions need to continue protecting the most vulnerable persons and assure that the victims' voice is heard louder than ever."

The PN expressed its solidarity with all victims of violence and encouraged them to share their experiences to help other women who are currently suffering abuse.

The opposition also encouraged government to sustain the political direction of previous administrations, including the far reaching network of services such as shelters, social work, professional training, support to NGOs and the Domestic Violence Act which led to the creation of the commission against domestic violence.

While noting that these initiatives undertaken by previous government showed the PN's sensitivity to women's invisible suffering, the party called for greater emphasis on prevention campaigns.

In the coming months, the PN will be renewing its policies on the matter and its social policies, the statement added. This would be done by consulting all stakeholders, including professionals and victims.
