Vehicles to be exempt from CVA fees during weekends

Budget measure to relax CVA fees to shore up business during festive period

Vehicles entering Valletta during weekends will no longer be charged the customary Controlled Vehicular Access (CVA) charges, the government announced.

In an effort to increase business during the busy Christmas period and all year round, the government announced the measure during last month's budget. The government, through Transport Malta, will now implement the scheme to encourage visitors to flock to Valletta.

"No CVA charges will apply for vehicles accessing the charging zone after 2pm on weekdays and all days on weekends and public holidays."

The new measures will see vehicles paying for accessing the charging zone in the morning until 2pm on weekdays. No charges will be made on Saturdays and Sundays.

Access during the first half an hour will not be charged while vehicles will be charged €0.82c per hour.

CVA or no CVA, I will STILL do my seasonal shopping via the 'net. There I have wider choices and BETTER prices. Valletta is rip-off country!

there must be a mistake in the article! first you state that "No CVA charges will apply for vehicles accessing the charging zone ... all day on weekends ..." Then you say that "the measure does not apply for vehicles ... staying more than half an hour during the weekends [who] will continue to pay the same charges." Iddecidi hi, b'xejn fil-weekends jew le???
