Toly Group executive is new Water Services executive chairman

William Wait to be chairman and also chief executive of Water Services Corporation

The energy ministry has appointed Malta Enterprise's deputy chairman William Wait, as executive chairman of the Water Services Corporation.

Wait - the deputy chief executive of international cosmetics packaging company Toly Group - will act as both chairman and chief executive of the WSC, after the resignation of Tony Meilaq from the same corporation.

He will stay as CEO until February 2014.

Wait was elected to the former Federation of Industry in 2008, and then to the Chamber of Commerce in 2009 where he later was its vice-president.

The outgoing WSC chairman, Tony Meilaq, was appointed in June 2013 also as chairman of ARMS, replacing Xghajra mayor Anthony Valvo who had been appointed as chairman of the billing company in April, upon Labour's election. Wait becomes the WSC's second chairman in as many months.

Meilaq's former business partner was employed as chief executive of the WSC's billing company ARMS to take over acting chief Henry Attard earlier in summer. MaltaToday understands that there was no public call for the post of ARMS's (Automated Revenue Management Services) chief executive, which is today occupied by James Davies.

Meilaq was appointed chairman of the WSC in April, and chairman of ARMS in June 2013. The outgoing WSC chief executive, Frederick Azzopardi, has now been appointed chief executive of Enemalta, while Enemalta's former chief executive Louis Giordimaina is now designate-CEO at Air Malta.

So finally Mr Wait will rid us of the mess left by GonziSimonPN in arms! I like business people moving in to help the Government rid us off of the bureaucrats within the civil service who earn their living by following rules and ignoring-to their delight- their customers: the taxpayers!
