Health Directorate withdraws imported peanuts
Health Directorate advises against consumption of peanuts imported and packaged by Country after call for withdrawal.
The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to inform the public that the 400 gram packets of Blanched Peanuts packaged and distributed by Country must not be consumed since it was found to contain high levels of Aflatoxins.
Aflatoxins are a type of mycotoxins produced from the fungus called Aspergillus. Aflatoxins are toxic and among the most carcinogenic substances known.
The responsible person was instructed to withdraw the batch in question from the market, however since it was reported that all consignment has been sold, as it is done in these cases, this Directorate is obliged to inform consumers of this recall.
