Film commissioner replaced

Engelbert Grech, appointed the new film commissioner, has over 18 years experience in television and film productions

The Minister for Home Affairs Manuel Mallia has appointed Engelbert Grech as the new film Commissioner, who will take the place of Peter Busutill.

Grech graduated with an Honours degree in Communications at the University of Malta and has pursued further studies overseas.  He has over 18 years of experience in television and film productions with his work screened in various major cities as part of the roving EU film festival.

Furthermore, Grech has directed and produced various productions for local and international distribution, amongst other The History Channel and Discovery Channel.

In 2009, Grech was listed among the World's 30 Achievers of the Year and won the Maltese Achiever of the Year Award in the arts section by the Junior Chamber International.

Prior to veing given the role, Engelbert served as the government's advisor to the film industry.
