Prisoner dies at Corradino prison

A prisoner at the Corradino Correctional Facility died this afternoon after he fell ill and collapsed whilst partaking in a game of football in the grounds of the Paolo prison.

Upon collapsing, he was immediately given medical aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was administered to him by the medical team at Corradino.

He was taken to in an ambulance to Mater Dei and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The police are investigating the case and a magisterial inquiry has been opened.

Initial indications are that the cause of death was by natural causes.
