Marlene Farrugia rescued after jellyfish ‘ordeal’

CPD rescue Labour MP after being stranded on a rock at Gnejna Bay

Bad weather did not deter Marlene Farrugia from getting into the water at Gnejna Bay, but in an unfortunate series of events, the Labour MP found herself surrounded by a swarm of jellyfish.

Upon finding herself in danger and fearing for her safety, Farrugia climbed onto a rock ledge to escape the jellyfish.

However, she could not walk to safety and after attempts to rescue her failed, her accompanying son called the emergency services.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were consequently called in to rescue Marlene Farrugia.

She was safely transferred onto a dinghy before being towed back to shore.

Farrugia had gone out for a walk with her son and decided to swim back.

Often synonymous with political outbursts, the Labour MP's Facebook page saw Farrugia recount her ordeal by saying she had to swim through a swarm of jellyfish.
