Labour think-tank Ideat ‘in favour of responsible divorce’

Ideat chairman Aaron Farrugia said the think tank welcomed the parliamentary approval of the Labour motion to hold a referendum on the introduction of divorce.

“Divorce is a sensitive subject and merits special treatment in the Maltese socio-political context.

“Since none of the parliamentary groups has any electoral mandate to legislate on this matter, it is fair that the Maltese people are given the opportunity to express themselves in favour of against the proposed legislation for divorce,” Farrugia said.

Ideat said it is in favour of divorce and that it would be playing its part in the forthcoming referendum campaign.
