Gas product stocks at normal levels

Liquigas Malta assured gas product stocks are at the regular level.

Liquigas imports a ship with gas every month and the gas imported this month is no different aside from a two day delay by the vessel, though this has had no effect on local gas supplies.

Liquigas Malta ordered a gas tanker which arrived this morning and started to unload them into Enemalta storage tanks. Distributor trucks were loaded at Qajjenza.

The Qajjenza plant was filling cylinders prior to the vessel’s arrival despite the delay. Gas cylinder distributors regularly queue outside the Qajjenza plant to load their trucks and Liquigas stated that trucks being parked outside the plant did not signify a shortage of gas.

You see that even the private sector has its own ommissions and this is a case in point. Some years ago we had a similar situation with Enemalta, and they also brought several excuses. When I was at Enemalta the Fuel Procurement Committee, which more or less I used to chair, ensured that the LPG tanker would arrive well before supplies finish. There were instances when the ship would arrive earlier or because of good weather sales dropped, and we used to fill all the empty cylinders we had, so that the cargo of LPG would have the necessary ullage waiting or we would instruct the tanker to load less from the refinery We were very hard working officers who were very rarely given any recognition for the efforts we used to put, and nobody would ever notice what we were doing because we always ensured that the cards were played at the right moment and at the right place. When things moved like that nobody would give you recognition for the efforts required to satisfy the needs of your customers. Now with privatisation and high salaries there are faults in the system.
