Labour again at Austin Gatt's throat over SmartCity

Labour has hit out at minister Austin Gatt’s admission that lack of planning by government has led to a delay in the delivery of jobs at SmartCity Malta.

In a statement, Labour’s spokesman for consumer affairs, communications and IT Michael Farrugia said that Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Austin Gatt must put an end to their arrogance and stop playing with the future of many youths who have studied and are studying because they see prospects within SmartCity.

“After the public transport reform fiasco, one is inclined to be suspicious on whether certain declarations by a Minister are intended to waive responsibilities off a private investor, who is contracted with certain obligations and targets,” Farrugia said, adding that nevertheless, “it is an admission of failure by Lawrence Gonzi’s government.”

Labour under the leadership of Joseph Muscat – the statement said – would be committed to see the SmartCity project is judiciously carried out.

Smart City, Smart Technologies, Smart Ministers, Smart Politics..... Today these buzz words are just a gimmick for selling Big Lies to the public. What is so smart about smart city after all ??? The public should wake up to these failed attempts to try to make things sound so interesting!
