Liquigas demands right for consumers to choose

Liquigas Malta said consumers should have the right of complete choice in the gas sector.

LPG gas producer Liquigas said consumers should have the right to choose who delivers gas cylinders to their doorstep, after independent gas distributors blocked exit to the company’s own distributors at its Qajjenza plant.

The independent distributors have been constrained to distribute the cylinders of only one gas company (Liquigas or Easygas) instead of operating an exchange system while distributing both companies’ cylinders.

In the meantime, Liquigas chose to distribute its own cylinders throughout the impasse. “The right of a consumer, that is whether to buy from Liquigas or its competitor, is not enough. In Malta, consumers should be offered the choice of the service of distribution as well. This way, all consumers will have a free choice to decide from whom they want to get their gas service,” Liquigas said.

“As the consumer is paying both for the respective LPG product and for the distribution service, then it is only natural, fair and right for the buyer to choose not only the supplier but also the preferred distribution system, whether via the gas distributors or directly from the suppliers. Anything less than this, in today’s age, works against the gas consumer,” Liquigas said.

I choose..... either a Liquigas cylinder from a truck which also has Easygas cylinders, or else an Easygas cylinder
