At this moment we can declare that Libya is fully liberated…

At first we had the news that he was shot in the leg and taken to hospital. The NTC in Misurata said he was in fact dead. We are still waiting for the final communication from the NTC that should be coming this evening.

We’d be better off without him alive. We would loved him to be brought to justice, but if God chose for him to die, we accept God’s justice.

A number of Libyan nationals have gathered outside the Libyan embassy in Attard, to celebrate the news of Col. Gaddafi’s capture by freedom fighters who entered Sirte this morning after days of fierce fighting to win the last loyalist stronghold.

“It’s a dream come true,” said Yousef Lamlum as he draped himself in the new Libyan flag outside the embassy in Attard.

Asked about reports of Col. Gaddafi’s death, and whether he preferred to have seen the deposed leader tried before a court of law, Lamlum said: “for me it’s enough that Gaddafi is history.”
