Muscat angry that Micallef and Pellegrini have canvassed for Joe Mifsud

PL leader Joseph Muscat has been angered at the news that former party secretary general Jason Micallef and former Lorry Sant henchman Ronnie Pellegrini have been campaigning to have Joe Mifsud re-elected as President of the Malta Football Association in today's crucial election.

MaltaToday is informed that the PL leader "blew his top" as soon as he was informed that the two party officials were making phone calls to MFA delegates encouraging them to vote for Joe Mifsud and confirm him in office.

It is understood that a 'secret agreement' was reached between Prime Minister and PN leader Lawrence Gonzi and Opposition leader Joseph Muscat that both political parties will stay away from interfering in the toughly contested election for the MFA presidency.

Tensions are high as the 109 delegates from clubs around Malta and Gozo will cast their votes later today and decide between incumbent Joe Mifsud who has been in office for 19 years and Norman Darmanin Demajo who is contesting for the post for the second time.

It looks as if Dr Mifsud will be feeling the effect of his long standing presidency. However his contestant's campaign is still lacking conviction. In spite of all that is being said I still say the the club delegates would still go for the devil they know. In my opinion Dr Mifsud has still quite a bit more to give to local football. I smile to myself when I hear about the political side of this matter - "Dr Muscat angry" or "Dr Gonzi and Dr Muscat have agreed to keep politics out of this election". We Maltese won't be satisfied if politics are not introduced in any public subject. I augur the club delegates will vote in their majority for the candidate they think is best for Maltese football - they have the experience, they should know best.

Are you drunk or just sleepy? Try to organize your thoughts well before writing in next time. Fact is Jason Micallef and Ronnie Pellegrini are NOT the PL. They are simply hang-overs from earlier times. And the sooner they are dropped from the inner circles of the PL the better for us all, not least the PL.

If Dr Muscat our beloved leader gave an order not to interfere in the MFA election for the presidency then these so called labourites such as Jason and Ronnie must resign timmediately.

Nothing new with Jason Micallef, part of the "Klikka" as we say in Maltese. Malta today forgot to mention One News Journalist Rodney Vassallo and National Team Manager and former Marketing Manager Ivan Vella who today works for One Productions and both of them also form part of the Joe Mifsud "Klikka" and are part of his campaign team. Joseph Muscat can blow his top again now. MFA needs change at the top after 18 years and I hope the delegates use their heads and not fall at pressuring campaigners. It's definitely dictatorship at the MFA with the boss refusing accreditations to Media Today journalists.

You're right, Joe. Lorry Sant should be left out of it. Yet Ronnie Pellegrini is too much of a meddler to be allowed to stay on as party official. He does nothing but harm the party in any which way he acts. What's worse is that he seems to have a grip on Jason Micallef egging him on to cooperate in his own agendas. This meddlesome duo should be forced out of the party machine. They can only wreak further trouble at a time when the Party needs to prepare for the great battle with the PN and save the country from future disaster it certainly can do without. For instance, what good could Joe Mifsud , one of the most arrogant persons to walk this land, do the Party's fortunes? If the MFA does no need him any longer, the PL needs him like it needs a hole in the head.

This goes to show Dr Muscat's seriousness. Not as much can be said of the two other gentlemen mentioned in the report. These two are born conspirators and are always up to something fishy. At least on this score they should shut their big mouths and save the Party money on the phone calls they are making just to please this arrogant person who cannot bring himself to leave the post ... who knows for what reason! Jason and Ron, do us all a favour and go home as Joe Mifsud will soon be doing.
