Green Party’s manifesto approves plan to amend European migration laws
European Green Party’s manifesto to propose changes to controversial Dublin Regulations
Plans to remove the current Dublin rules are amongst the measures proposed in the European Green Party's parliamentary elections manifesto, Alternattiva Demokratika said.
Currently, the Dublin Regulations provide asylum-seekers from relocating to other countries within the EU, but its proposed change by the European Green Party is set to alleviate the influx of migrants in Malta.
Led by Chairperson Arnold Cassola, an AD delegation participated in the Convention that saw the measures of the EU parliamentary elections manifesto approved.
"The important matters concerning Maltese interests, predominantly those pertaining to migration and transparency in the financing of politics, have been included in the European Green Party's manifesto," Cassola argued.
In line with its stand against abortion, AD voted against the provision of abortion and against a motion critical of the Spanish government in its revision of Spain's abortion legislation.
In addition, the manifesto also approved various regulations, including one critical of the current negotiations on a trade between the EU and the USA and also calls for the enforcement of transparent financing rules for political parties, candidates and election campaigns relative to EU Parliament elections.
The Convention also approved a statement in the Common Manifesto emphasising sexual and reproductive rights.
