Updated | Maltese singer in attempted abduction 'doing well but in shock'
Maltese singer Davinia Pace describes frightening ordeal on Facebook.
Maltese singer Davinia Pace and her sister Natasha narrowly escaped being abducted while holidaying in Istanbul.
Accompanied by her sister, the 21-year-old singer was on her way to the hotel when the taxi they were riding in was allegedly ambushed.
MaltaToday is informed that no formal report with the Maltese Consul-General in Istanbul has been lodged but contact has been made.
Describing the frightening ordeal on Facebook, Pace said she was under "complete shock" after their taxi driver got punched by the abductors but still managed to save the two sisters.
"We were in a taxi going to our hotel when two Turkish men tried to abduct us. [They] tried to take us out of the taxi and drag us into a massive van with men with machine guns," she wrote.
"The taxi driver saved us and got punched by these two men in the process. But we managed to drive off extremely fast."
Recounting how a nice day out had been ruined, Pace added she was "disgusted" by what human trafficking meant.
She also reassured her friends and followers that both herself and her sister were safe.
Pace is currently in Istanbul for a weekend break with her family. This year she made it to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest's finals with her song 'Brand New Day'.
