More important remains discovered at Royal Opera House site
As the excavation works are still going on, several historical and archeological remains are being uncovered at the Royal Opera House.
According to the newspaper il-mument, remains found at the site shed new light on the full architecture of the Opera House. Part of these remains will be used in the new site and are currently being preserved with great care.
Amongst the items found during the excavation works were several historical stones, some of them with designs engraved in them, arches, a roof beam and water reservoirs. It is being said that the roof beam probably was part of the original roof of the opera house.
The excavation works at the Royal Opera House are now in their final stage. As soon as they are completed, the designs of the international architect Renzo Piano can commence.
The excavation works started in November of 2009 and are being carried out by Terracore Ltd.
