Malta with second highest increase in retail trade
Statistics show Malta as one of the six EU Member States with an increase in retail trade during December 2013.
Malta registered the second highest increase in retail trade last December, according to statistics provided by Eurostat.
The statistics compare the results achieved by Member States in December 2013 with the preceding month. Among the Member States for which data was available, total retail trade decreased in sixteen states and rose in six.
The highest increase was registered in the United Kingdown with 2.6%, followed by Malta with 2% increase.
Malta achieved an increase of 1.4% in retail trade when compared to the corresponding month of 2012.
In December 2013, retail trade in the Eurozone fell by 1.6% and slightly less than 1% in all the Member States.
