National Commission for the Promotion of Equality marks 10th anniversary.
The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) is marking the 10th Anniversary since its inception.
During this decade, the NCPE processed 361 complaints alleging discrimination on grounds that fall within its remit.
It also announced the Equality Mark, a certification that promotes equal opportunities and good practice, was obtained by more than 50 companies.
In a statement, the commission said it is looking forward for the widening of its mandate to encompass all human rights, as stated by the government in the last budget speech.
“These are very challenging times with the equality landscape changing, thus enabling NCPE not only to build on work which has already been identified but also to expand and strengthen its work and responsibilities in the field of human rights and equality.”
Regarding EU funding, it obtained a total of €5.7 million to implement various key actions identified by the NCPE.
