Government urged to publish revised IIP legal notice
New legal notice regulating citizenship programme as sanctioned by the European Commission not yet published.
Two days have passed since the Maltese government and the European Commission agreed on the third and final version of the Individual Investor Programme, but the legal notice has not yet been published.
In a statement, the PN also noted that parliamentary secretary for justice Owen Bonnici declared on One TV that he had personally amended the legal notice - aided by the Attorney General - in Brussels on Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, a Maltese delegation was in Brussels to negotiate the citizenship programme. The negotiations saw the introduction of a minimum one-year residency period while the government can now remove the capping of 1,800 applicants.
The PN said the government has already published two editions of the Government Gazette, but no reference to the new legal notice was made.
"We urge the government to publish the legal notice as soon as possible, together with all the updated details of the scheme," the PN said.
